Llanthony Abbey
I found a little bench at Llanthony Abbey (Wales). It’s a huge and beautiful site.
Spirit of the land, may we speak? It would be my honour to learn from this site and yourself.
Yes, welcome. (It feels very medieval, like a knight.)
Thanks for having me.
Are you a pilgrim?
Sort of, not exactly, but I do wander and visit sacred sites. Could you tell me more about this abbey?
Yes, for many years we had visitors from all over. This place sits at an important node of dragon energy, you see. It’s like underground serpents of masculine fire, yang energy, very powerful. If you can handle it, work with it, the land will reward you. It’s not for the faint-hearted. The Black Mountains surrounding this place nest the potency of the currents. It’s serpent, dragon-like energy, the flames of Wales, of the dragon. There was fight around this land for many years. That brought chaos and order, and in times of search for solace, this abbey held strong and looked after the wounded, looked after the prayers of those whose families were on the front lines. It was a safe keep of strategic power, maybe not known consciously to those in the front, but the prayers of those here sent potent energy, and the dragon fought by their side.
How about before the medieval times?
Before, the land was wild, once enchanted and inhabited by only elementals. Dragons flew wild and preyed on other bigger animals, deer, foxes, etc.
What happened?
Humans. They found this place, and initially it was good. They prayed to the land and communicated with me/us (native land spirits). We all lived in balance, but then other men invaded. And soon, the power of the currents—dragons went into hiding, as they were being hunted for their skin/oil. It was not worth it to them to live like this, so they left. Legend has it, back to their own planet. But others, not so lucky, lay to rest under these hills, to be awakened once again when it’s safe to come out.
But then these humans left, searching for more land, for more wonders. It was never enough, you see. They were clouded by sins of the mind, sins that didn’t exist before. As some grew powerful, they started to like the taste, to like the power of having more than others, being admired, and they connected to darker spirits that promised them more. So they saw in themselves these qualities and started to fear others possessed them too. You see, when the mind is unbalanced with the emotions and the body, it generates paranoia. So in response, they built these temples—“abbey,” they called it—a place of power, a place of grace, according to the top. But really, it’s a place of control, where “sins” get used as leverage for manipulation. And the masses attended to “confess,” for what they were told are “sins,” and pray to be absolved, to be rewarded. And it worked, because this land is powerful. It has always been. So prayers are answered. We listen. There is no need for the abbey. There is no need for confession. If the soul and the intention are pure, we are always happy to help. You only need to ask.
It sounds like it doesn’t matter what we are praying to or how long, as long as we ask. The abbey is a nice dress, that’s all.
Correct. Humans think you live alone on this planet, yet there is so much you don’t understand. How could you think that while at the same time know that you can’t see the whole picture? You can’t see the full spectrum of colours. You can’t hear the whole range of sounds. It is a strange thing.
Anyway, it is the fear that is not in line. We answer prayers, but not because you confessed. We answer prayers because we respond to love, to kindness, to goodwill. A confession because of a mistake is one thing—lessons ought to be learned—but a confession due to fear of punishment by leaders, or by an almighty terrifying God that doesn’t exist… God doesn’t punish. God is gracious. And that fear is reducing the power of your prayer so greatly that it might even be what you get in the end—not the answer to your prayers, but a lesson. The fear coming true so that you understand that you can face it—a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you see the lesson, then you can move on to cleaner prayers with beautiful rewards. But if you don’t, you will keep receiving the chance to learn until you do. We realise you humans get caught in this loop a lot, but there is no other way. The way of the universe is only evolution, growth—not happiness, not nice cars, but growth. The moment you make peace with that, you can have happiness and nice cars.
That was a speech. It’s been a while since I could talk to someone. Thank you for this space.
My pleasure. Thank you for the teachings.
One more thing—we spirits, land, water, air—we are everywhere. Remember that, everywhere. Connect with us. There is no need for churches, more so in the countryside. Cities have usually been so populated by thought entities that the land spirits are very sick, tired, hiding, or silent. Don’t listen to thought entities. Listen to nature, to the land, to the sea, to the fire, and to the wind. We want to connect. We want to help. Ask us with respect, with gifts, with prayer and gratitude. We listen.
